Regal Cinemas is making ready to shut 39 film theaters across the U.S. in mid-February, in keeping with a brand new doc filed in chapter courtroom this week by its U.Ok. guardian firm Cineworld.
The submitting says by rejecting the leases beginning Feb. 15, “the Debtors estimate…. [it] will save their estates roughly $22 million yearly.”

Cineworld, which filed for chapter in September, wrote that its “companies have been acutely impacted by the worldwide unfold of COVID-19 and its attendant penalties, together with a decline in cinema attendance, a disrupted movie launch and manufacturing schedule, and an increase in at residence leisure options.”
